• General FAQs
    • Q: When I click on a link nothing happens. What are some likely causes of this problem?
    • A: Pop-up blockers may be blocking access to certain areas within the applications. If you are prompted, please allow pop ups for these sites. You can also try to hold down the "Ctrl" key while clicking on the link. The Google and Yahoo toolbars both include pop-up blockers.
    • Q: When I click an email in the MyBayCare list, why does it launch Outlook Express?
    • A: These are mailto links that will open the default e-mail client installed on the local machine.
    • Q: Can I use Internet Explorer 7?
    • A: We have successfully tested the MIC, Kronos, and BayPas applications in our test environment with IE 7. However, we did experience problems with Online Learning Center functionality when using IE 7 in our lab. This is why we recommend IE6 as the preferred browser because we know it will work all of the applications.
    • Q: Why do some applications not require me to not log back in even after I have closed the pop-up Internet Explorer window?
    • A: The browser is remembering your user information. For security best practices, we recommend you close all browser windows when you have completed your remote access work.
  • BayPas
    • Q: When I run BayPas with another BayCare application, BayPas crashes.
    • A: This is a known issue with the BayPas software. Before you start using BayPas, please close all other remote access applications.
    • Q: How can I stop the prompt to allow software to run while trying to access BayPas?
    • A: When you are prompted, click on "Grant Always" and you should not receive a prompt in the future.
  • KRONOS
    • Q: When I click on the Kronos link, I receive the following error: "The Java Plugin failed to initialize. Please contact your system administrator". What can I do to resolve this issue?
    • A: Windows XP service pack 2 blocks the installation of Active X controls. The browser will notify you when a control needs to be installed by displaying the following banner at the top of the browser window:
      Active X Warning

Click here for instructions on how to install.

You will be able to log in once the Active X Control has installed.
Note: Active X Controls are only supported in Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    • Q: Why do super user reports appear incorrectly?
    • A: This is a known issue; however, MyBayCare is not targeted towards super users.
  • MIC
    • Q: Why do I not have to log back into MIC after closing a session?
    • A: The preferred method is to click the "Logout" button instead of the "x" in the browser. This will ensure that all credentials are cleared out.
    • Q: What software is required for MIC to run on my computer?
    • A: MIC requires that you have installed the Microsoft XML Core Services(MSXML) version 4 application. This application can be installed from the Windows Update site. To access Windows Update from your browsers menu, select Tools | Windows Update. This application is packaged with the Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 install. You will need to download if it is not already installed.
  • Online Learning Center
    • Q: What software is required to access the Online Learning Center and take CBTs?
    • A: Shockwave
          Flash
          Adobe Acrobat Reader
    • Q: I have taken a CBT but it does not save my bookmarks and/or it does not save my results. Why?
    • A: In order for CBTs to work correctly with remote access, you will need to make some modifications to your Internet Explorer settings. Without this change, CBTs will not bookmark or score results.

Add *.mybaycare.org to your trusted sites. Click here for a tutorial on how to perform this configuration step-by-step.

Ensure that the "Access data sources across domains" setting is enabled. Click here for a tutorial.

You must have the Flash player installed to view these tutorials.

    • Q: Will the Online Learning Center work if I use Internet Explorer 7?
    • A: Most of the functionality will work with Internet Explorer 7 such as tuition reimbursement and class registration. However, there is a known conflict between the CBT software and Internet Explorer 7. Therefore, we recommend using Internet Explorer 6 for all of the Remote Access applications.

The CBT software vendor is aware of the problem and is working on a solution.
